“If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?”
A playful project, including coining the name, using letterforms to draw images of dogs. Various fonts, seemingly appropriate to each breed are used. Who could possibly deny that “Bodoni” is, indeed, a Pug Dog? Printed as note cards to be marketed per box, the packaging focuses on type and uses dog-like hues.
The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka, while decidedly disturbing is also simply a tale of banal family disfunction. The cover is meant to project both sensibilities. In the first sentence of the book, we learn that Gregor, the main character has woken up as a gigantic insect. With that in mind, the wonderful font called “Chilean Bugs” has been fully exploited. The text block is justified, adding to the confined situation of the characters. Pattern is used extensively in the illustrations, as Gregor had sold textiles.
